All that remains of the wharf at yacht club.

Dear Answer Man,

Where is the Kamloops Yacht Club ramp and why has the wharf been closed off with a chain link gate?

Dear Ron and Susan,

During structural checks this spring, the 20-year-old wharf was found to be suffering from rot and was removed about a month ago.

Jeff Putnam from the City says the wharf was not highly used. Whether to rebuild it in the same location or put it somewhere else is under review in the context of the City’s riverfront development plan. A new wharf may be built further west towards Riverside Park or east at the Thompson Drive boat launch.

Either way, says Jeff, it seems likely a wharf won’t be rebuilt at the Yacht Club.
