Motorcyclist taken to RIH after being hit by truck

NEWS/ POLICE — A motorcyclist was taken to Royal Inland Hospital today (Monday) after an accident at the corner of Summit Drive and Spring Hill Drive.

RCMP cruiserStaff Sgt. Lane Jumaga said RCMP and Kamloops Fire and Rescue responded to the accident at 12:57 p.m. after a man in his mid-20s was struck by a pickup truck driven by a Kamloops man also in his mid 20s.

He said the motorcyclist, who was unlicensed, was northbound on Summit Drive making a left hand turn onto Springhill when he was hit by the truck heading southbound on Summit Drive.

The motorcyclist was taken to RIH with non-life threatening injuries.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation. Jumaga asked any witnesses to the accident to call Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000.
