NEWS/ CITY HALL — Windbreak Street will get a $2.3 million overhaul including sidewalks on both sides.

Kamloops City council today approved awarding the contract to B.A. Dawson Blacktop Ltd. for $2,280,840.

Windbreak, which runs between Tranquille Road and Parkcrest Avenue in Brocklehurst, was originally to be resurfaced last year but due to deterioration the City decided to do a full reconstruction job beginning this month. It will take until October to complete.

The on-street parking in the new design will be on one side of the street only. The rehab will be a major change for the street, which currently has painted walking lanes on the street. The new design came after consultation with the neighbourhood.

Coun. tina Lange complimented staff on its “comprehensive” public consultation on the project.
