Cycling Canada and Commonwealth Games Canada announced on Tuesday the 16 cyclists who will compete in the Games for Canada.

Former world champion Pendrel is joined by World Cup medalist Emily Batty from Brooklin, Ont., on the women’s team. Both were among competitors at the 2012 London Olympics. Pendrel is originally from Fredericton, N.B., but now counts Kamloops as her home base.

The men’s mountain bike team consists of Max Plaxton of Victoria and Raphael Gagne from Quebec City.

The Games take place in Glasgow, Scotland, from July 23 to Aug. 3, and include new men’s team pursuit and team sprint categories.

Canada is also fielding competitors in track cycling and road events.

A team of 265 athletes and about 100 coaches and support staff will be on Canada’s team in Glasgow.
