ATVers find human remains in remote area

NEWS UPDATE — The Kamloops Serious Crime Unit and rural RCMP are working with the B.C. Coroner Service in identifying the skeletal remains located in a remote area southeast of Kamloops on Sunday.

RCMP cruiserThe initial investigation did not turn up anything suspicious at the scene, so the focus now will be on identifying the body, Cpl. Cheryl bush said today (Tuesday).

“Once identity is known and the circumstances surrounding their disappearance are looked into, it will be determined if further investigation required.”

NEWS/ POLICE — Police were at the scene Monday where human remains were found in the White Lake area southeast of Kamloops.

Kamloops Rural RCMP received a report Sunday night that people out riding their ATVs had located human remains.

The Kamloops RCMP Serious Crime Unit was at the location early this afternoon and will work with the Coroner’s Service to do a scene examination and recovery of the remains.

Cpl. Cheryl Bush said the investigation is in its very early stages and no further details were available.
