NEWS — A high streamflow advisory is being maintained for the North Thompson River and a flood watch is still on for the Clearwater and Horsefly Rivers but the B.C. River Forecast Centre ended a high streamflow advisory for Blue River this afternoon.

The centre said the North Thompson at McLure has risen about 36 cm over the past 24 hours but the rate of rise has slowed to about 1 cm per hour. Flows are expected to subside by late Monday or Tuesday but the centre said the next 24 to 36 hours will require close monitoring.

Forecast rainfall of about 20 cm over the next 24 to 36 hours could increase levels in Blue River and Clearwater River. The centre said the Clearwater should peak by Tuesday but that might change depending on rain.

A high streamflow advisory means river levels are rising or expected to rise rapidly but that no major flooding is expected. A flood watch means river levels are rising and will approach the edge of its banks. Flooding of areas adjacent to affected rivers may occur.
