The Kamloops Film Society is now accepting submissions from local, independent filmmakers for the annual Kamloops Independent Short Shorts Film Festival.

ARTS/ ENTERTAINMENT – Get your cameras rolling: the Kamloops Film Society is calling for entries to the 7th annual Kamloops Independent Short Shorts (KISS) Film Festival.

The KISS Film Festival features short films (five minutes or less) about the Thompson Nicola Region created by independent filmmakers who live in Kamloops and the surrounding region. The Kamloops Film Society is dedicated to supporting and encouraging local filmmaking and hosts the KISS Festival each year to help filmmakers showcase their work, and for the public to view local films they might otherwise not have the chance to view.

Films of all genres will be accepted, though content must be suitable for all audiences, including children. Submissions will be screened at a free, family-friendly event on May 30, 2014, at the Clock Tower Theatre on the Thompson Rivers University campus.

This year the KISS fest will include cash prizes for five winning films, as decided by a jury and audience. The prizes will be distributed as follows:

· 1st prize: $500

· 2nd prize: $250

· 3rd prize: $100

· Youth Prize (18 years and under): $100

· Audience Favourite: $100 MovieMart gift card

To be eligible for screening, each film must be five minutes or less in length and suitable for all audiences. Entries must be submitted to MovieMart by May 24, 2014, along with the entry form and $10 entry fee.

Further submission guidelines, entry forms and contest rules can be found at http://www.kissfest.ca.
