Police make arrest made in shooting incident

NEWS/ POLICE —  Kamloops RCMP made an arrest Wednesday in connection with a shooting incident that took place April 7.

RCMP signThe investigation began after police were called to a shots-fired complaint in the 1900 block of Tranquille Road around 3 a.m. on April 7. Investigators learned that there had been an altercation between two people who knew each other, when a firearm was produced and a male victim ended up in the hospital with a single gunshot wound.

The investigation was carried out by the Kamloops Serious Crime Unit and the Targeted Enforcement Unit, leading to the arrest of a 29-year-old Ashcroft man.

Cpl. Cheryl Bush said police will recommend charges of attempted murder with a firearm and aggravated assault against the male.
