That cry of pain you hear is motorists filling up with gas as prices rise for long weekend

NEWS — Must be a long weekend comin’ — gas prices are up.

gasPrice at the pump jumped six cents Thursday in Kamloops to $1.38.9 a litre, following a general trend across the country for the Victoria Day long weekend.

Cries of pain were being heard at gas pumps across Canada. In Kelowna, gas rose to $1.43.9 cents a litre, up from $1.33.9 just a day earlier.

In Calgary, prices were as high as $1.28.9 a litre, up a dime from a couple of days before. Vancouver faces the possibility of record high prices, hitting $1.49.4 compared to $1.46.5 a year ago.

The web site gasbuddy.com shows $1.38.9 at stations in Kamloops almost across the board, except for a few at $1.35.9 as of lunchtime.

Cache Creek ranged from $1.29.9 to $1.39.9, while Vernon was at $1.43.9.
