Kamloops SPCA celebrating with Fur Ball

NEWS/ PETS — It’s time to celebrate second chances at the Kamloops and District SPCA. As branch manager Charleen Holloway says, “We don’t do that enough. We are so focused on the animals that need our help, the cruelty cases, and the seriousness of our mission that we forget to celebrate the successes we have every day.”

Those successes include finding new “furever” homes for over 800 animals last year alone, she said.

“Just imagine how many lives that has changed,” Holloway said. “It’s not just the animals whose lives are made better, it’s the people as well. Second chances aren’t just for the furry, they’re for people, too.”

Celebrating Second Chances is the theme of the first annual Fur Ball, being held May 23 at the Coast Kamloops Hotel and Conference Centre.

“It’s going to be a fabulous time, with a gourmet dinner, live entertainment, dancing, a fantastic silent auction, and a 50/50 draw. We’re very excited and we want to share our joy and successes with the community that has helped to make them possible.”

Tickets are available at kamloopslive.ca (250-374-LIVE) or at the shelter at 1211 – 8th Street.

“We really want the community to come out and celebrate with us,” Holloway said. “It’s our opportunity to have a really fun party and help the animals at the same time. We hope you’ll join us!”
