Downcore core, Pemberton lose power

NEWS — A swath of the downtown core lost power shortly after 3 p.m. today (Wednesday).

B.C. Hydro indicated that the outage, along with another localized outage on Pemberton Terrace in Sahali, was due to an equipment failure.

The loss of electricity forced some businesses, such as banks, to close their doors for the remainder of the day. About 1,500 Hydro customers were affected in Kamloops.

Power was expected to be restored by 5:30 p.m. downtown and 6:30 p.m. in Sahali.
