Chamber, TD open awards nominations

NEWS/ BUSINESS — A call went out today for nominations for the 2014 Business Excellence Awards.

Chamber of CommerceAbout 60 chamber members, sponsors and past winners attended the official announcement at the offices of the Kamloops Chamber of Commerce, which sponsors the awards with TD Bank Group.

“It’s time again for everyone to nominate the business or person that has gone above and beyond within our community,” said chamber president Aleece Laird.

“Anyone can nominate and any business can be nominated.  It only takes a couple of minutes, so don’t be shy!”

There are 16 award categories.

TD branch manager Lindy Baird also spoke, saying the bank’s values “align perfectly” with the awards.

Laird said some new awards criteria are in place.

“We are always striving for excellence and relevance and our committee felt that it was time to revise the award criteria,” stated Laird.  “Now when nominees submit their packages to the selection committee, they will have a clearer sense of what is required of them.”

Nominations can be made online at KamloopsChamber.ca, at the chamber’s office at 615 Victoria St., or at TD branches in the city. Nominations close June 30, with the awards gala set for Nov. 1.
