Communist leader in Kamloops Thursday

NEWS — Communist Party of Canada leader Miguel Figueroa will be in Kamloops on Thursday to talk to followers.

The Kamloops Club of the party will host an evening with Figueroa at the Smorgasbord Deli on Seventh Avenue on Thursday, May 15, at 7 p.m.

Figueroa will discuss Canadian politics and current affairs such as Canada’s involvement in Ukraine and the Fair Elections Act.

Figueroa has been the leader of the CPC since 1992 and helped develop his party’s current platform.

Before moving to Ontario in the early 1990s, Miguel was active in causes across the country. Since joining the CPC in 1977 he worked as a Greater Vancouver party organizer (1978-85), and then as Atlantic Party leader (based in Halifax from 1986-92).
