Two youngsters decline offer of ride home from stranger in blue truck, police investigate

NEWS/ POLICE  — Two young boys wisely declined an offer of a ride home from a stranger Wednesday and now police are looking for him.

RCMPKamloops RCMP say they received a report about a man who approached the boys in the Parkcrest area, offering them a ride. The two six-year-olds were walking at the north side of Parkcrest elementary school near Edgemount Avenue when the man, driving a blue truck with a white canopy, stopped to tell them that he would give them a ride home.

He is described as being an older Caucasian male, with grey facial hair, and the canopy had a 4 X 4 sticker on it.

After the initial offer of a ride, there was no further contact with the children, who immediately went home and reported the incident to their parents.

Kamloops RCMP have notified School District 73 and are encourage parents to review stranger awareness principles with their children. Anyone with information about the described vehicle is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP or call Crime Stoppers to remain anonymous.
