Woman pedestrian hit in downtown crosswalk

NEWS/ POLICE — A female pedestrian who police describe as elderly was taken to Royal Inland Hospital with non-life threatening injuries after being hit in a downtown crosswalk.

Traffic lightThe woman was struck by a vehicle making a lefthand turn at Second Avenue and Lansdowne Street on Tuesday.

“Witnesses indicated that the pedestrian had the right of way at the controlled intersection, but the driver failed to yield, striking the pedestrian in the crosswalk,” said RCMP Cpl. Cheryl Bush.

The driver was issued a Motor Vehicle Act violation ticket.
