NEWS/ TRU — The campus at Thompson Rivers University is a busy place these days even though it will be officially closed Good Friday and Easter Monday.

The Old Main study areas will remain open for study from 7 a.m. to midnight and computer labs are open 24 hours. House of Learning study areas are also open 7 a.m. to midnight and Science study areas from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Meanwhile, several new recycling stations are being set up around campus in an effort to reduce recyclable materials going into regular trash.

Each “zero waste station” includes five colour-coded bins with instructions on what goes inside each — blue for mixed, green for compost, red for refundables, yellow for plastic bags and black for landfill waste.

Several new emergency phones are being installed on campus, with the latest in parking lot T near Trades and Technology.

Twenty-seven phones are being installed, which will bring the total to 39. Campus pay phones also have an emergency call feature with a direct link to Campus Security and 911 emergency services.
