Everybody pitching in on KamClean Week

NEWS — Get out the rags and bags, it’s KamClean Week

Along with the warmth of spring comes the urge to clean away the grime of winter. It’s KamClean Week in town, and even the politicians have rolled up their sleeves.

CIBloomlogoCity councillors and members of the local Communities in Bloom committee got their hands dirty picking up litter Wednesday. Some of them posted photos of themselves and their efforts on Facebook.

Today (Thursday) is graffiti clean up day. Communities in Bloom members are out and about eradicating tags around downtown.

Friday is Adopt-A-Road Day, when clubs, businesses and residents take on designated streets and make them sparkle. Or at least pick up the litter. To sign up, call 250-828-3400.

Even when KamClean Week ends, the work to keep Kamloops looking good continues. Earth Day is coming up on April 22 and with it, encouragement for people to find a green alternative to driving, pack a litterless lunch or organize a neighbourhood clean up.

For those cleaning up their homes, the City is taking hazardous household waste and old electronics on June 7 at the Mission Flats landfill and recycling depot.
