ARTS/ ENTERTAINMENT — This year’s Kamloops Film Festival is barely over but already two films shot in the Thompson-Nicola region have been tentatively lined up for the 2015 festival.

Thompson-Nicola Film Commissioner Vicci Weller said Monday that Shana: The Wolf’s Music, and Gold are on the list for the film festival next March.

Shana: The Wolf’s Music, filmed mostly on the Lower Nicola Indian Reserve near Merritt, recently opened at the Reel 2 Film Festival in Vancouver in front of two sold-out audiences and was shown last week at the Nicola Valley Institute of Technology.

Weller said the film wasn’t shown at this year’s KFF because of the timing of the Vancouver festival.

Gold is a German language film about the Klondike gold rush and used Kamloops, Hat Creek Ranch and the Big Bar area west of Clinton for shooting. It stars German actress Nina Hoss and would be shown here with subtitles.

The producer is Henrick Meyer, who also produced Shana: The Wolf ‘s Music.

Weller said Germany holds good potential for the local film industry. “Germany loves us,” she said.

Meyer also produced the German-Canadian co-production TV mini-series Miss Texas in Ashcroft and Spences Bridge.
