EARLIER — RCMP are investigating what may have been a bomb placed at the front door of a York Avenue home early this morning and are asking for the public’s help in tracking down clues.

Screen Shot 2014-01-28 at 2.58.52 PMPolice said the occupant of 769 York Avenue awoke about 3:54 a.m. after hearing someone trying to break into the house through the front door. A man fled the scene when the occupant looked outside.

When police arrived, they found what looked like an explosive device at the front door.

“The house was evacuated and the police service dog was called, but unable to locate the suspect,” a police spokesman said.

The explosive disposal unit was called in to deal with the device.
