Daily publication of Vernon newspaper ends

NEWS — Another daily news outlet is ceasing publication.
The Morning Star in Vernon announced today it is closing the Morning Star Daily, which publishes provincial, national and world news in addition to the tri-weekly Morning Star.
“Friday, March 28 will be the last issue of the Daily,” Ian Jensen, Morning Star publisher, said in the news article.
“We want to thank our readers and advertisers of the Daily for their support over the years.”
The closure of the daily is a business decision that will have no negative impact on operation or publication of The Morning Star, the story said.
“The Morning Star will continue to publish as normal,” said Jensen.
“It’s doing very well and will continue to be your local source of community news.”
The Morning Star, owned by Black Press, was founded in 1988. The Morning Star Daily was established in 2005. The Vernon Daily News, owned by Thomson Newspapers, ceased publication in 1996 after 105 years.
