That is one really big bottle of wine

NEWS — Ever wonder what 27 litres of wine looks like – in one bottle?

Called ‘The Primat,’ a 27-litre bottle of Maximus Prime said to be among the largest and rarest in the world has arrived at Hoodoos at Sun Rivers, according to a press release today from clubhouse manager Rob Larocque.

Big bottle awaits a big corkscrew.

Standing just under three feet tall, the bottle contains the equivalent of 36 750-ml. bottles or 180 glasses of wine and weighs in at 125 pounds.

“Each bottle of wine should communicate something distinct, something unique about the region it comes from,” said winemaker Adrian Cassini.

“It’s this dedication to craft and subtlety which has quickly made our red and white wines some of the most celebrated on the Golden Mile Bench – the finest grape growing region in Canada nestled in the Okanagan Valley.”

Hoodoos at Sun Rivers launched the Hoodoos Wine Club this past Friday at the 7th annual Wine Soiree.

Laroque and Cassini will uncork the big bottle and pour some Maximus Prime heading into 2015. Laroque confirmed that a regular corkscrew will open the bottle.

The Maximus Collectors Series, a Bordeaux/Meritage style wine, has won numerous awards and medals including seven gold medals in 2013, they said. Cassini Cellars of Oliver is the producer.

The Hoodoos Wine Club offers a one-year membership that includes special events.
