Roots2Rock will shake Barber Centre April 5

ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT — The normally solemn Irving K. Barber Centre will be rocking Saturday, April 5 with proceeds to the Kamloops Interior Summer School of Music (KISSM) and TRU student awards.

RootsIt’s called Roots2Rock: Music in the Round, and it will get started at 7 p.m.

Performances will include the Crossbow Celtic duo of Christina Zaenker and Neil Burnett, the Serious Options choir, and the Infectuals rock band.

“Inarguably one of the most powerful cultural developments of our time, rock music is infused with lyric, tonal and rhythmic seeds from diverse cultures,” says a press release.

“Roots2Rock explores the fruition of rock from the ancient Celtic realm through African Spirituals to American gospel, bluegrass and blues culminating with The Infectuals who will rock the round house with their dynamic mix of funk, psychedelic, soul, hard rock and heavy metal.”

The Irving K. Barber British Columbia Centre is inside the Brown Family House of Learning on the TRU campus.  Parking is free on weekends.

Register on line at www.tru.ca/foundation, or register by phone at 250-828-5264.
