Pain is back but will end soon as last of work on Tranquille Road corridor gets underway
NEWS — There will be another trip for Tranquille Road corridor businesses but it should be less painful than the last one.
The City has advised them that construction along the road will start again next week “as long as the weather co-operates.”
The work will finish up a major project that was interrupted by winter and that caused several weeks of traffic issues.
BA Dawson and its sub-contractors will be on site to complete restoration adjacent to the new street lights and focus on the high pedestrian traffic areas first. Some curb reconstruction will be done.
They will then complete the remainder of the work including the multi-use path that forms part of the Rivers Trail from Overlanders Bridge to the corner of Tranquille Road and Royal Avenue.
“There’s a lot of positive feedback about the lighting,” a spokesperson for the North Shore BIA said, adding that the rehab work is making the area “increasingly more walkable.”
A completion date hasn’t been set. When it’s done, a grand opening will be held.
As well, Arbor Day ceremonies will be held May 2 at the corner of Fortune Drive and Leigh Road where a beautification project is planned.
