‘Equine and Partners’ to exhibit at KAC

ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT — An artist familiar to many in Kamloops will exhibit at the Kamloops Arts Council’s Main Gallery, 7 Seymour St. West from March 26 to April 19.

Gordon Manson’s “Equine and Partners” will feature his drawings and paintings reflecting nature and what he calls “the cowboy way.”

GordonMansonartGallery hours are Tuesdays to Fridays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Manson grew up Manitoba where he began expressing his love of nature and wildlife at an early age. He now lives in B.C. where he trains his horses and continues to paint.

“I draw and paint because there is something inside of me that needs to come out,” he said.

“It comes out in my drawings and paintings.”

He described his paintings as highly detailed, representational images of nature.

Manson had a solo show at the Wilson House Gallery in 2009. In 2010, his drawing “Leading the Way” was chosen first runner up at the Art of the West Show and Sale held in conjunction with the Kamloops Cowboy Festival.

In 2011 and 2012 he exhibited in juried shows around the Kamloops area and elsewhere and, in 2013, two of this drawings and a painting were accepted into the Western Art Gallery at the Calgary Stampede.
