Students being asked to rate TRU experience

NEWS — TRU students will have a chance to say what they think about their university.

The university today (Tuesday) announced two online surveys — a national student engagement survey, and an internal survey on what they think about their courses.

Screen Shot 2014-03-04 at 3.35.43 PMThe National Survey of Student Engagement collects information on how undergraduates at universities spend their time and what they gain from attending university.

TRU uses data from the survey to look at ways to improved undergraduate education.

Randomly selected first year and fourth year baccalaureate students received email invitations last week. Students who complete the survey will be entered in a draw for one of three cash prizes of $600, $300 or $200.

Meanwhile, the Faculty of Science, Faculty of Adventure, Culinary Arts and Tourism; and the School of Business and Economics are continuing a pilot project to test different ways of surveying students about their courses.

Input will be used to create a set of course evaluation questions. Dean of students Christine Adam will email invitations to participating students in late March.

More information on the course evaluation surveys can be obtained by contacting ipa@tru.ca.
