Cotter’s last-rock takeout puts B.C. at 3-1
SPORTS — A tricky last-rock angle-raise takeout capped a come-from-behind win for B.C. in fourth-round Brier play at the Interior Savings Centre tonight (Sunday).
B.C. fell behind early as Nova Scotia scored a big four-ender but they refused to give up, eking out five singles to tie it going into the ninth. After B.C. forced Nova Scotia to take a single in the ninth, B.C. kept the pressure on in the last end until skip Jamie Murphy buried one behind a B.C. stone.
That put the game in the hands of Kamloops favourite Jim Cotter, throwing fourth stones for John Morris. He angled a B.C. rock perfectly onto Murphy’s for a three-ender and an 8-6 final.
B.C. now sits at 3-1 after an earlier 7-4 loss at the hands of Jean-Michel Menard’s Quebec foursome.
B.C. has the afternoon off Monday, taking on Prince Edward Island in the 6:30 p.m. draw.
