Coquihalla Highway open after avalanche zone is cleared

NEWS — The Coquihalla Highway is open for traffic after crews finished clearing an avalanche zone this morning (Saturday). Drive BC reports that as of 10 a.m. the road is clear but lane widths are reduced from exit 202-Portia to exit 228-Coquihalla Lakes. Highway 3A remains closed Castlegar to Creston due to a slide.

  1. Most of the drivers were diverted to travel Eastbound along the TCH #1. Most of the people that spoke with advised that the traffic was ever so slow because of the large number of transport trucks that decided to take the same route. I’m sure that John Ranta, Mayor of Cache Creek, was ever so pleased.
