Indoor GranFondo, Family Festival set to go this Sunday
NEWS — There will be a whole lot of peddling on Family Day thanks to the second annual Kamloops Indoor GranFondo and Family Festival.
The event is Sunday, Feb. 9 starting at 10 a.m. at the Tournament Capital Centre.
The Kamloops Indoor GranFondo is a fundraiser for the MS Society. Participants can ride for six hours, four hours, two hours or any amount of time, with all riders finishing together at 4 p.m.
Registration fees for the 2014 event are $25 for youth and $50 for adults, and include assistance with set-up, a custom yoga mat, swag bag, aid stations with snacks and a ticket to the buffet dinner after the event.
Bike trainer set-up is at nine, with the six-hour group starting at 10, four-hour at noon, two-hour at 2 and open-time riders any time between 10 and 4.
In addition to face-painting and a photo booth at the family festival, Big Little Science Centre will be there, 4Cats Studio will have a kids’ Artzone, PacificSport is hosting XploreSports, Kamloops Adaptive Sports Association has wheelchair basketball, the Yoga Loft has kids’ yoga, and RiverCity Gymnastics will have an obstacle course and Princess Party.
A free swim will be held at the Canada Games Pool from 1 to 4 p.m. There will also be an expo with exhibitors. Admission is free for both the expo and Family Festival.
New this year are multiple free workshops throughout the day on injury prevention, bike maintenance and advanced training techniques.

11 a.m. Pre-Ride Inspection by Ted Morton of Kamloops Mountain Biking Ltd.
11:30 a.m. Derailleur Workshop by Ted Morton
12 p.m. Advanced Heart Rate Training with Maurice Maher of Multisport Solutions.
1 p.m. Tire Repair with Ted Morton of Kamloops Mountain Biking Ltd.
