New arrival for Deadman Valley wild-horse family

This just in from Theresa Nolet of Critteraid in the Okanagan. Critteraid, of course, is the group that stepped in a few months ago to save some local wild horses from the auction block.

Good day Mel;
On Friday July 5, Arundel the older mare had her foal, a beautiful colt. Arundel was the grey mare that we had to leave behind when we picked up Atticus the first stallion, now gelding. We had no idea that she was pregnant when we picked her up as she was quite thin even after having regular meals while under the care of the Ministry. The Vet was out to check on mom and son and declared both to be in very good condition despite Arundels condition during the early part of her pregnancy.

Mother and offspring are doing well.

Both Arundel and her colt will be adopted by the kind and loving couple that have fostered her, so that is very good news.
To date we have adopted three of the horses and I have an enquiry about Aragorn. The little paint mare is also pregnant and is expected to give birth sometime in August.
So that is my update. We still need volunteers, foster homes and donations.
We now have a face book page Project Equus of Critteraid where people can check in to find out what is new with the Deadman Valley horses.
Please contact me at any time if you would like any updates, info whatever. Thank you for all you have done to keep these beautiful animals from slaughter. Just look at that sweet baby and know that he would never have been born at all if your paper had not done the original story! Give yourself a pat on the back! Take care.

Theresa
