Almost a strange new chapter in the story of Pollux the dog

We’ve all heard of breaking news. Then there’s breakaway news.

This newsroom can be an interesting place to work in. Friday afternoon, reporter Michele Young was on the phone to Montreal with Isabelle Robitaille, the owner of the now-famous pooch Pollux. She’s the black-lab cross that turned up near Walhachin a year after escaping from her yard back in Montreal.

Michele was talking to Ms. Robitaille about the happy reunion, for Pollux had just arrived home courtesy the SPCA. Suddenly, there was a pause in the conversation.

“Oh, no,” said Young.

Another pause.

“Oh, no,” she said again.

Again, a pause.

“Oh, no. Tell you what, I’ll let you deal with this and call you back in half an hour.”

“Pollux escaped again,” said Young as she hung up. A member of a TV crew there to interview the family had left the door open and Pollux had run off. Fortunately, when young checked back later Pollux was back home.

Had she not been found, it would have been a strange end to this happy tale. Fortunately, all is well.
