Media election-forum agenda set for Wed., Oct. 8

Once again, the media (three of them, anyway — The Daily News, Kamloops This Week and TV7) are teaming up with Thompson Rivers University for an all-candidates federal election forum.

The forum will get underway 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8 in the TRU Grand Hall. I will act as moderator. The media forum is usually the biggest of the bunch in local election campaigns, so it should be an informative and entertaining evening.

Here’s the rough agenda:

6:50 p.m. Candidates draw for speaking order

7 p.m. Forum starts. Welcome/Introductions/Review of Rules

7:08 p.m. In order determined by the draw, each candidate will be allowed three minutes max for introductory remarks.

7:20 p.m. Questions from media panelists.

7:45 p.m. Each candidate may ask one question of one other candidate. Questions max one minute, answers max two minutes.

8 p.m. Questions from the floor. Two microphones. Same time limits.

SIGNS & BROCHURES: TRU allows free-standing signs only. Signs may NOT be posted on walls. Brochures may be distributed.
