PARKCREST FIRE – City, TNRD offer free activities for those impacted by fire

The City of Kamloops has stepped up to offer free activities for those impacted by the destruction of Parkcrest elementary school Thursday night (Sept. 5, 2019).

The City is offering the following:

• Free swimming  at the Tournament Capital Centre, 6 a.m. – 11 p.m.
• Free drop-in table tennis
• Free drop-in basketball
• Parkcrest teachers and staff are offered free access to wellness centre for Parkcrest staff members.
• Free swimming at the Westsyde Pool from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6

The Thompson Nicola Regional Library is also stepping up, offering those affected by the fire the use of free resources and services. Both the Kamloops and North Kamloops Libraries will offer expanded programming next week, including Minecraft, Stop-Motion Movie Making, Ozobots, Hands on Science, and Family Games.

Some programs are drop-in and some require registration, but all are free.

The Kamloops Art Gallery is also offering support. Students of Parkcrest lementary are being offered free full-day art camps until Friday, Sept. 13. The program is free to Parkcrest elementary students, and the art gallery will accommodate up to 20 students at a time, first come, first served.
